OK I can’t remember the quote exactly but it’s something like this:
“Statistically speaking 10 people can have fewer new ideas then a hundred thousand people.”
Jean Francois Revel in Without Marx or Jesus

I appreciate the atheist quote of the day, but, um…
I don’ get it.

In tolatarian regimes(as in religions) the power to make decisions is concentrated in a few individuals(almost always assholes) who needless to say most often don’t have a frigging clue about the possibilities in any given situation. Revel was speaking of governments but the concept applies equally well to religion which are pretty much always regressive in order for a small powerful group to maintain control of the larger group.
Does that explain what I meant at all or am I just making it even more cryptic?

I wouldn’t say “cryptic,” but perhaps verbose. Distill it. It’s a given that the power in a totalitarian regime is concentrated within a few connected hands, so where’s the revelation? Cults operate much like the third reich, deciding who should over-procreate and who shouldn’t, I get the comparison, it’s just his phrasing that didn’t parse.
