That kind if irrational hate is not confined to any one country or city. The only way to deal with it is to understand that it just IS. Just know that there are people like that and go on with your life. Do not allow them to influence you or change you, because if you do, you have given them power over you.

Just look at them as they are and move on. They will never cease to exist, that kind of hate will always be around in one for or the other……..everywhere there are human beings.

I live in one of the most democratic and liberal cities on the West coast of Washington. And there are those spewers of hate here too. I don’t allow them to have any power in my life. I create my own space and they are not allowed in it.

Amen to what Mags said. Yeah, there are an assload of ignorant redneck motherfuckers in this country, but it ain't like the snooty-snoo-snoos of Austria are all the most welcoming/tolerant people on the planet, EITHER. You've told me too many stories about those major-redwood-tree-up-the-ass hoity-toities to front like it's all sunshine and roses over there, either.

You've found a town, an environment, and friends who love an accept you, and I'm happy for that. But don't impugn this entire country based on the ignorance of a vocal MINORITY of mouth-breathing fucktards. There are too damned many of us who've been working all of our lives to reverse that idiocy and advance the process of evolution in this overly-limited species.

I don't have that, a "home." I had it for a while in New Orleans, actually went through three or four different "homes" over 12 years. Here, I have two friends in the entire parish, and the entire Greater Baton Redneck Republicunt Rouge Area; one's my physical therapist and the other is Mr. Bonds. And I see them each about an hour a week, if that, because of our different lives & schedules. So I've found my own home online, and been fortunate enough to find friends who truly love me. Well, some of them just STOP loving me, without so much as explaining why, except to project all of their insanity and/or insecurities onto ME, and make ME into the most evil entity this side of Dick fucking Cheney.

But the ones I get to keep, I value more than my own life. Some are closer to me than others, some I hardly hear from, but I still know that they're there. Y'all are my family. I've got one niece, and she's not even that reliable anymore, and I hardly ever see the great-nieces & great-nephews except on judeo-xian holidays. If I didn't have my blogosphere buds, I'd have finally tried to achieve my lifelong ambition of being an infamous spree/serial killer, especially if I ran out of cigarettes.

I have a great sticker on the pickup: “Anybody who says that there’s good in everybody obviously hasn’t MET everyone.”

And it’s the damned truth. But when the maggots, the lowlife scum, the beady-eyed, no-neck inbred recidivist redneck thugs start to get to you, rather than trying to look for the good in them, as they prolly don’t have it, just remember how many good people that you know, and who love you. That does a helluva lot more than trying to extend an olive branch to fucktards who would pick their noses with it.

P.S. Thanks for the add, Boukman! Soon as I can get over there and check you out, we’ll throw you into our blogroll, too!
