Say it loud: I’m black and I’m proud!

James Brown died this morning. He didn’t have a great track record with how he treated women, but he was a true original. There have been many pretenders to the throne, but there will only be one King Of Soul, one Hardest Working Man In Show Business.

Y’ever notice how many of the greats that we lose under republicunt regimes?

(And don’t bitch at me about Elvis dying under Jimmy Carter’s administration, the real Elvis died the day that he got drafted and the U.S. Army introduced him to drugs.)

Power Fist to Neal-O for the tip. Great news to wake-up to, eh?

Annti: Check out the YouTube clip of the Godfather at Huffington Post. I’d link to it but it’s like eight minutes long, plus I don’t know how.

I loved him. RIP, Hardest Working Man in Show Bizness.

He was the real thing. I remember when my brother bought “Cold Sweat” when it first came out. It was great, but i bet Mr. Brown’s sweat when he performed was not cold. A moment of silence for the King of Soul.

I’m sorry he passed. That man could perform. I’d always wanted to see him live. Now I’ll never get the chance, more’s the pity.

And sweetie – what is up with your last email? Are you OK?

I’m with the fat lady, that’s a show I’d loved to have seen but the chance is gone for ever now.

He was one of a kind.
